CLEAN-UP DRIVE
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis
Tolentino and Pasay City Rep. Emmy Calixto-Rubiano jointly supervise the
bundling up of dangled wires and cables by a roadway clearing employee
on board a manlifter truck on the streets of Malibay in Pasay City
yesterday.The clean-up operations, dubbed as Lingap sa Barangay, is a
component of the agency’s community outreach program which involved some
500 MMDA personnel, in coordination with local government units and
barangay officials concern, jointly sprucing up densely populated and
depressed areas in a bid to reduce flooding and stem the tide of dengue

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis
Tolentino (center) receives from Carmelita Ang (third from right),
founder and chairman of the Pilipino-Chinese Business Community and
Alliance Inc., some 100 pieces of raincoats being donated by the latter
to the agency’s traffic enforcers and rescue personnel on night duty and
involved in quick disaster response. Various socio-civic organizations
have pledged to donate similar raingear as token of appreciation for
Tolentino’s public-private partnership advocacy to make Metro Manila a

VICTORY FOR SK NATIONAL FEDERATION Sangguniang Kabataan National Federation President and National Youth Commission (NYC) Commissioner Jane Censoria Cajes (left) appears before the Senate Committee on Local Government headed by Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (right) to air the group's strong opposition to the proposed abolition of the SK. Through Cajes' effort, the Senate shelved its plan to abolish SK and allowed the election to push this October.

Mindoro Gov. Alfonso Umali Jr. (left) talks to Dagupan-Lingayen
Archbishop Emeritus Oscar Cruz during the "Balitaan sa Rembrandt" media
forum at the Hotel Rembrandt in Quezon City where the governor called on
all sectors to unite against jueteng. Umali emphasized that
authorities, government officials, concerned citizens and civil society
and anti-illegal gambling organizations should join forces, and not put
the blame on each other, to successfully combat the illegal numbers
game. Umali is currently the president of the League of Provinces of
